Jeanne Prosperi yen

Jeanne Prosperi Yen is a 17 year old French- Chinese (Eurasian) women who married Adeline's father. Jeanne is the step-mother to Adeline and her four other siblings. Jeanne is a very dynamic person because her mood towards her children changes very often. Jeanne can turn on anyone at anytime.She also can be very nice and caring.

Jeanne is an antagonist and just plain rude, she shows no respect to her family members especially the elders .Jeanne repeatedly puts down her stepchildren, she physically, and emotionally abuses her. When she held her daughter after months ,her daughter Susan did not recognize her, Jeanne then took her frustration out on Adeline.. After a while Jeanne would eventually let the other step children into her “new and better” family, they always left Adeline out. Adeline was left out because she was supposedly the one to kill her mother. Jeanne towards the end of the book becomes nice to a certain extent , even though she took Adeline out of her and her father's will, she still asked her for help when she got cancer.

Jeanne's conflict is that she hates Adeline and everything she does. Adeline was top of her class, made all A’s, and was always respectful, but she could never earn the love of her step mother. Jeanne wants nothing to do with Adeline, she has sent Adeline to not one but two different boarding schools.

The person in today's society that is similar to Jeanne is Donald Trump, they both don't care what people think about them , they are also overly concerned with their looks and making sure people know who they are. Just like Donald is running for presidency and trying to contol america , Jeanne is trying to control her family and what they do. They both can also be really mean and bias.
